The Game

Age of the Magi is a unique tabletop role-playing game of epic magic and melee.  The game is currently being created by EarthFire Games and is scheduled for release in November 2012.  It is fast and easy to level a character as you play (usually during combat) keeping all players engaged at all times.  If you enjoy playing tabletop games that take place in a sword and magic fantasy setting with a little steampunk mixed in – you will like this game.  If you enjoy leveling up a character, becoming more powerful after nearly every encounter, you will LOVE this game.  We’ve all heard the stories of legendary weapons left over from ages past, back when forests walked the land, when magical creatures were in league with humans, back when magic was more powerful in the world – this game takes place in that age of legendary magic.  The players will literally shape the game world with their spells and battles, craft magical items for the next age, and perhaps create or destroy entire races.

Age of the Magi contains a unique leveling system that allows characters to gain levels as they cast spells, use weapons, or use skills.  Experience is gained through the use of a particular skill, melee discipline, or domain of magic, which in turn can increase any number of primary ability points (strength, intelligence, and the like).  The only limit to epic spellcasting is understanding.  Magic is unlimited and it is simple. Magic can light a candle, divine for ore and water, turn a tree to stone, erase memories, burn towns, reverse time, create new races, build castles, level mountains, erupt volcanoes, evaporate entire oceans, or raise the sea to swallow the land.  The only limit to magic’s potential is a character’s experience, a little chance, and his imagination.

Characters can take big risks during the game as long as they have a little fate left in their pocket.  A unique form of experience comes as fate points that can be used to augment spells, reroll dice, or escape a deathblow.  A vast array of magical domains, melee weapons, and armor can be used by any character.  There are no templates or classes to say that a Wizardly type cannot wear full plate and wield a battle axe… in fact, we invite all players to create a character that turns the conventional classes on their heads.  Gone are the stereotypical big dumb fighters, bookish wizards, and frail sorcerers (unless you want to play them, of course).

Enjoy…
